Spring Tournament!!

When:  Saturday, May 8th, 2010
Where:  Rockwall, Tx
Address:  Cain Middle School
                6620 FM 3097
                Rockwall, TX 75032 
                (Rockwall is about 30-40 minutes away)
Directions:
  • Get on 75 and head south to 635
  • Get on 635 and head east/south until you get to I-30
  • Get on 30 and head east until you get to Rockwall, TX
  • Right when you cross over Lake Ray Hubbard, you will exit on FM 3097 and head southeast until you run into the school.  Please confirm this with your own map)
Cost:  $50 for competitors
          FREE to all spectators
 
All tots ages 3-6 will perform at 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.  
All Kids ages 6-12 will perform at 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
 
To get signed up for the tournament just leave a check for $50 at your childcare facility or mail it to:  3606 Crestcreek Court, McKinney, Tx 75071.  Write 'Tournament' in the memo section of the check.
 
All of the children that are ages 3-6 will EARN a trophy.  My perspective on this is that they get up in front of everyone and show off their skills....  They will break a re-breakable board and will get a trophy.  I firmly beleive that the more we get our kids up in front of people the more confidence they will gain.  Confidence is one of the most important concepts a youngster can have.  They can have the most talent in the world in anything...but it won't amount to much if they don't have confidence to throw themselves out there. 
 
I encourage you to bring your child to the tournament and let them participate.  It is always a great experience for them.
 
If your child is older (6-12), you are more than welcomed to bring them to my school this week for additional training.  The hours would be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30.  I will help them with the tournament protocol and any additional information they will need.  This age group IS competitive and will earn a trophy based on how they compare to other students.

Also, ALL ELITE TEAM MEMBERS MUST PARTICIPATE.  This was the deal when you signed up for the Elite team.  You are required to participate at all tournaments we support.

There will be a sign up sheet at the school -  Sign up A.S.A.P.

There will also be a TEAM SPARRING or TEAM PATTERNS EVENT.  There is an extra cost to participate in either of these events.  Patterns would be synchronized.  Sparring will be accumulative points scored by each fighter at the end of 2 minutes.  We will add up the points and whichever team scored the most points....wins.  The extra cost is $10 per person per team.  So, $30 per team.  Each member of the team would win another trophy or medal for this event.

Hopefully, by the next tournament we will offer some form of weapon competition.  I am pushing for bo staff or nunchakus.  Mr. Vu will come back and teach another seminar before that happens OR I will go to his school and learn the pattern.
